Installing a cover over your slurry tank or lagoon will control ammonia emissions and prevent loss to the atmosphere of valuable ‘free’ nitrogen. Do this now and there will be more nutrient to spread on your land later.
The best type of slurry cover to install will depend on your farm’s current storage facilities and the priorities. Where storage capacity is not an issue, then adding a floating cover like Aerotop, will prevent odours and loss of nutrients, and still allow the slurry to be mixed.
